What is Meatopia?

Amstel Light Meatopia is an outdoor event presented by Whole Foods Market. It is also known as the "Woodstock of Edible Animals." The 2011 Meatopia takes place on Saturday, July 23rd on Pier 5 of the Brooklyn Bridge Park.

The event will feature over forty-five great chefs from across the United States, some of them cooking on our Lang BBQ smokers® and chargrills. Meat lovers can purchase a tickets to attend the festivities, barbecue food, farmers and live music. Amstel Light will flow freely with part the all you can drink tickets and available to other ticket holders at the vendor tables.

Whole Foods will host the semi-finals and finals of The Best Butcher Competition with the top 11 finalists at Meatopia. The competition showcases how professional butchers execute and perfect meat cuts. The competitions began in May at Whole Foods stores across the U.S. and the final round of competitions will take place at Meatopia. The farmers and ranchers will be bringing their meat and sharing how they raise the animals. Much of the meat at the event will be coming from Creek Stone Farms. Some smaller meat farms from New York, New Jersey, Kansas, Vermont, and Virginia will also be bringing meat. Ben Lang will meet and greet Langers at the event and tape some of the chefs while cooking on Lang BBQ Smokers® and chargrills.

A portion of the event proceeds going to Slow Food USA, Armed Forces Foundation, and Careers through Culinary Arts Program (C-CAP).
